A call for the position of Psychotherapist within the Psychological Service Team on a definite basis is being issued .

Duties of the Psychotherapist:

  • ​Be expected to offer individual therapy sessions to beneficiaries;
  • Shall be expected to conduct assessments for the situations being referred to them and to use this information to design a viable therapeutic plan to support the person in question;
  • The selected candidate will be working as part of a team and their individual work needs to be in line with the values and principles of the service. An integral part of the job entails working effectively with other professionals who shall be on the same team, and also network efficiently with other relevant stakeholders who are in some way participating in the life of the beneficiary;
  • Shall also be held responsible to maintain a regularly updated set of records and filing system;
  • Help clients define goals and plan action to achieve personal, social, educational and vocational development and adjustment;
  • Monitor client progress through regular meetings or sessions;
  • Support and intervention during the crisis;
  • Offer therapy and treatments for issues relating to a range of mental health conditions;
  • Develop and evaluate service provision for clients;
  • Provide consultation to other professions, encouraging a psychological approach in their work;
  • Participate in institutional professional development and training;
  • Undertake research and write reports;
  • Ensuring health and safety of beneficiaries;
  • Carrying out any other duties and responsibilities as may be required from time to time by the Unit Leader and/or the Agency.

The minimum requirements are:

  • Covering letter and detailed CV
  • Certificates
  • Valid Police Conduct
  • Two/ three references
  • Must be fluent in English language.

Eligible candidates must be in possession of an MQF level 7 Qualification in Psychotherapy (subject to a minimum of 120 ECTS/ECVET credits) and must be in possession of a recognised warrant issued by the Board for the Psychotherapy Profession in Malta; 

The qualifications and experience stated must be supported by certificates and/or attestations.

 Applicants holding a foreign qualification must submit a Statement of Recognition of Comparability of Qualifications issued by the Malta Qualification Recognition Information Centre (MQRIC) together with their application.
