A call for Welfare Officers within the Psychological Service Team on a definite basis is being issued .
Responsibilities:
- Support with the screening, identification and examination of vulnerable asylum seekers in the Initial Reception Centres and closed centres;
- Support both unaccompanied minors asylum seekers and adult beneficiaries in the reception centres, closed centres and community;
- Perform preparatory work of each assigned case before the conduction of vulnerability assessments/age assessments (preliminary information, Country of Origin Information, individual’s ethnic and cultural background, preparation of questions …);
- Conduct vulnerability assessments of applicants for international protection in the reception centres and boat arrivals;
- Conduct Age Assessments of unaccompanied minors;
- Compile vulnerability reports, according to procedures;
- Assess alleged unaccompanied minors in the closed centres/reception centres;
- Record data and provide regular statistical reports on vulnerable cases;
- Be actively involved with the beneficiaries in group activities;
- Coordinate with the Units Leaders within Services in relation to weekly schedule of assessments, and medical or any other appointments with beneficiaries;
- Be responsible that the beneficiaries’ files are kept up-to-date and perfectly in order.
- Liaise with interpreters on the field;
- Liaise with the centre coordinators/closed centres in relation to applicants, and to prepare invitation letters for applicants ahead of their Vulnerability Assessment or Age assessments;
- Attend individual and group supervision and training sessions;
- Assist in Appeal processes;
- Attend regular training concerning vulnerability the rights and needs of children;
- Participate in meetings where deemed necessary;
- To establish effective communication between staff and residents in order to resolve swiftly any upcoming issues;
- To make sure that the available welfare facilities provided under the regulation or otherwise are being properly maintained and utilized;
- To ascertain what further welfare facilities are needed, how best they can be provided and make suggestions for their establishment;
- Ensure adherence to standards of care within the relevant quality framework;
- Ensure legislation, national standards and guidelines are being followed;
- On call duties when needed.
Carrying out any other duties and responsibilities as may be required from time to time by the Unit Leaders and/or the Agency.
The minimum requirements are:
- Covering letter and detailed CV
- Certificates
- Valid Police Conduct
- Two/ three references letter
- Must be fluent in English language
- In possession of a recognised Bachelor of Honours Degree in a Social Sciences, Education, Humanities, Health Science, Nursing or any recognisable comparable professional qualification.
- Applicants holding such a degree from a foreign University must present an MQRIC equivalence.
- Preference will be given to candidates with relevant experience over and above these qualifications.
- Preference will be given to candidates holding a proficiency certificate in the English Language.
Salary:
The salary for the post of Welfare Officer in the year 2026 is equivalent to €29,247.00 per annum.
