A call for the position of Counsellor within the Psychological Service Team on a definite basis is being issued .

Duties the Counsellor – Psychosocial Services, is responsible for are:

  • Assess and identify residents’ problems and needs;
  • Help clients define goals, plan action and gain insight;
  • Evaluate clients’ needs and create a custom treatment plan;
  • Teach groups coping mechanisms related to stressful and traumatic experiences they encounter;
  • Provide assistance to residents individually, groups and communities to improve mental health;
  • In sensitive situations, to accompany the beneficiary during their medical appointments concerning mental and physical health;
  • Monitor client progress and adjust their treatment plan as needed;
  • To keep updated recordings;
  • To keep statistics and keep databases updated appropriately;
  • Encourage clients to discuss emotions and experiences;
  • Conduct interventions/services/workshops designed to address the needs and/or problems of residents within different settings and cultural contexts;
  • Develop therapeutic processes;
  • Appropriately refer clients to psychologists and other services;
  • Ensuring health and safety of beneficiaries;
  • Actively working in cooperation with government ministries, entities and non-government organisations;
  • Take a holistic approach to mental health care;
  • Serve as a member of the transdisciplinary and interdisciplinary team;
  • Participate in meetings with other professionals and in case conferences/ reviews;
  • Participate in institutional professional development and training;
  • Partaking in administrative duties in relation to one’s own work;
  • Carrying out any other duties and responsibilities as may be required from time to time by the Senior Manager, Unit Leader and/or the Agency.

The minimum requirements are:

  • Covering letter and detailed CV
  • Certificates
  • Valid Police Conduct
  • Two/ three references
  • Must be fluent in English language.

Applicants should hold a master’s degree in counselling or Transcultural Counselling at MQF level 7, or an appropriate recognised, comparable qualification and be in possession of a registered warrant (Temporary or Full Time Warrant).

Applicants holding such qualification from a foreign University must present an MQRIC equivalence.  Applicants holding relevant experience over and above these qualifications will be given preference.

Salary:

The salary for the post of Counsellor in the year 2025 is equivalent to €32,890.00 per annum.
