Welfare Officer – Operations

The Welfare Officer (Operations) will be responsible to:

  • Work hand in hand with all AWAS’ teams for the betterment of the service users’ welfare
  • Be actively involved with the service-users in group activities
  • Be knowledgeable on areas of policy in relation to this field of work
  • Participate in meetings where deemed necessary
  • To establish effective communication between staff and residents in order to resolve swiftly any upcoming issues
  • To make sure that the available welfare facilities provided under the regulation or otherwise are being properly maintained and utilized.
  • To ascertain what further welfare facilities are needed, how best they can be provided and make suggestions for their establishment;
  • Ensure adherence to standards of care within the relevant quality framework
  • Ensure legislation, national standards and guidelines are being followed
  • Be responsible that the service-users’ files are kept up-to-date and perfectly in order
  • Carry out any other duties and responsibilities as may be required from time to time by the coordinator.

This job description may vary from time to time according to the exigencies of the Agency.  The employee may be asked to carry out other tasks or duties as may be determined by AWAS Senior Management and as may be determined by national emergencies.

The minimum Requirements are:

  • A recognized bachelor’s qualification at MQF Level 6 (Subject to a minimum of 120 ECTS/ECVET credits, or equivalent, with regards to programmes commencing as from October 2003) in a Social Policy, or youth and community studies, or Psychology.
  • Valid police conduct.
