Support Worker

The Support Worker will be responsible for:

  • Assist in the day-to-day running and up-keep of the Unit
  • To work in conformity with the procedures as laid down in the Manual of Procedures
  • To work in liaison with other staff and professionals working with the service-users
  • To log and report any general information and other needs of the Unit
  • To ensure that the service-users are treated with first priority
  • Observe that the residents took their oral treatment (Direct observation Treatment) and monitor medical appointments.
  • To develop the best communication skills to understand the service-users and develop professional caring relationships
  • To help achieve aims and purposes of the Agency and the upkeep of the Unit
  • To monitor and observe the facilities with the service-users activities including their household chores and other activities
  • To draw up incident reports as required.
  • To carry out any other duties and other temporary duties and responsibilities as may be required from time to time by AWAS Senior Management and as may be determined by National Emergencies.

The minimum requirements are:

Applicants should hold either a BTEC Diploma in Health and Social Care, or a UOM Certificate in Residential Care.

Or

Candidates holding six (6) ‘O level passes including Maltese, English and Mathematics.

Or

Two (2) years’ work experience in the field and the ability to read and write in Maltese and/or English
